Looking for a unique Christmas card this year? Look no further! ‘Yuletide York’, theBigBuzz 2008 Christmas card is here, photographed, designed and printed in York, England, and sold in support of Mwabi Institute in Malawi.
The card showcases nine of the most splendid doors in historic York, each door decked out with a welcoming Christmas wreath.
I spent quite some time last Christmas out and about in all weathers taking these photos. (You’ll see it’s snowing on a couple of the pictures.) The nine photos I chose to use are from homes in St Saviourgate, Bootham, The Mount and Mount Parade.
Not only are the cards photographed and designed (by me) in York, but I was also determined that they should be printed in York too, on FSC certified paper, using an eco-friendly waterless printing process. And I’ve wrapped them in an eco-friendly way too (no plastic bags!)
These exclusive cards are on sale at my website for just £5 for a pack of 5. And 50 pence for the sale of each pack sold will go directly to help build the Mwabi Institute in Malawi.
Why the Mwabi Institute? Well, each year I ensure that the sale of theBigBuzz products gives something back to charity. theBigBuzz 2007 calendar, for instance, raised money for five charities (find out more). This year I met a very inspiring man at one of my Buzzing! shows in York, and this is what led me to support the Mwabi Institute.
The man in question was Wishart Malinga. (Read what he thought of my Buzzing! show.) Wishart works as a nurse in York. And he has a dream. That dream is to build a school in his home village in Malawi. And through his persistence and the contributions of many people in York and beyond, that dream is becoming a reality.
You can find out more about the Mwabi Institute here. And you can help turn Wishart’s dream into a reality by your purchase of theBigBuzz Christmas cards.
