In my last two blog posts I have been seeking to escape our current pandemic troubles by taking us back in time, firstly to the events of 2011 and then to 2010, as described in my ‘Rhymes of the Times’ shows that I performed back then.
Today I suggest we find our escape by going back even further. To 2009. Yes, for your delectation and delight (aka to forget our current woes), I’m posting here my ‘2009 in Rhyme’ show, performed live at the end of that year at King’s Manor in York.
What a year 2009 was. We had the inauguration of a new US President, the fallout from the financial crash, the MPs’ expenses scandal, the ousting of Arlene Phillips from Strictly, and much much more.
So, sit back and either watch the show in all its glory or listen to it as audio only (just below the video). The choice is yours. Either way, you’ll get ‘Last Orders’, a poem that was broadcast on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, and, I hope, a fair bit of tittering and escape from where we all are now.
Enjoy.
